A recent story out of Olympia School District shows why patriotic parents who support curriculum transparency and parental rights must get involved.
As reported by Jason Rantz, the school board recently appointed a leftist, Black Lives Matter activist who falsely accused cops of killing her aunt to a vacant position.
In this role, Talauna Reed will have the power to weigh in on curriculum, hiring and firing, and a variety of other policies which she can use to ensure leftist ideology is infused into the school.
Who is Ms. Reed? We’ve marked her vulgar language with “expletive” below, but here’s how she views our brave men and women in blue who risk their lives every day to keep communities safe.
Reed said at a left-wing rally in 2021:
It amazes me how those pigs can sit over there to watch us peacefully talk about what we want [to] change in this state. It amazes me. And they don’t pay attention until we tear [expletive] up. So, before I get started, tear everything up in this [expletive] city until they do what we want them to do.
This is why parents and citizens must get involved at the local level. Ms. Reed has radical views which she will likely impose onto school children in Olympia as a board member.
Some ways you can get involved might include attending school board meetings and asking questions about what is being taught in the classrooms and what books are available in the school library.
You should also meet with the school teachers and express any concerns you have about the curriculum. Of course, also offer to help out in the schools as you can, whether that is coaching a sport, tutoring after school or volunteering at various school events. It’s your school, too, and you have a right to be involved and be heard!
As a parent or even just as a concerned taxpayer you have a right to know and speak out on how your hard-earned dollars are being used and how your neighbors are being taught.
Many school districts and officials, along with the teachers’ unions, have alienated parents by asserting that they alone are in power. This of course was made worse when the National School Boards Association (NSBA) asked Biden and the Department of Justice to use federal agents to surveil parents who spoke out against COVID mandates, LGBT policies and curriculum choices. The letter also compared parents to “domestic terrorists.” While many state school board associations either condemned or even left the NSBA, the Washington State School Directors’ Association (WSSDA) did not.
A recent Fox News poll found that 64% of registered voters think parents do not have enough say in what goes on in the schools. 60% also listed an obsessive focus on racial issues as another concern.
Make sure to visit FPIW Action’s voter guide before heading to the polls and please share with family, friends, and neighbors. This is our community, our state, and our country, and we must defend it from attacks from radical leftist activists who want to figuratively, and literally, burn it down.
