With the 2022 midterm election season in full swing following this month’s elections, both parties are ramping up their outreach efforts with hopes to turn out the voters needed to win majorities around the country. With President Biden continuing to raise doubts about his fitness to lead, this cycle looks to be a favorable one to outreach for those Christians who make up close to 75% of the Republican Party.
With this in mind, the Republican National Committee (RNC) Chair Ronna McDaniel took a surprising step that was fundamentally anti-biblical and harmful to the Republican Party and to the nation. For a party leader that claims to share Christian values on life, marriage, and children, and that supports traditional values, the announcement of the formation of an outreach program called the “RNC Pride Coalition” has caused questions about the party’s priorities.
The coalition was announced a week ago at the Log Cabin Republicans’ “Spirit of Lincoln Gala” at Mar-A-Lago. Many high-level officials attended, including former President Trump, Melania, as well as former acting Director of National Intelligence Ric Grenell, who was the first openly gay U.S. Cabinet member. Ronna announced this coalition by sharing a “commitment” to partnering with the Log Cabin Republicans, calling them “a partner to fight for our country’s future.”
We have no issues with LGBT Republicans (who represent somewhere near 1% of the Republican base) in joining the party and working on issues we hold in common. There are many I appreciate working with. However, we strongly oppose partnerships supporting LGBT groups who advocate for the LGBT movement’s policies on marriage and gender. These policies directly oppose the Christian policy agenda on family, marriage, children, and life. This is a sharp departure from the biblical values that the party often claims to uphold, as the LGBT movement’s agenda is antithetical to many issues the party claims to stand for.
What’s next for Ronna, a partnership with BLM to bring more “anti-racist” black Americans into the Party? Or Planned Parenthood to bring in more female voters? Or the ACLU to bring in those wishing to redefine both the 1st and 2nd Amendments? This formal alignment will be a devastating step for the Republican Party.
Ronna says this is just about bringing new voters into the Party. Let’s get real: the only way Republicans will get a sizable number of new LGBT voters will be if it becomes silent on or rejects Christian policies in favor of the LGBT agenda. Has Ronna being paying attention to how LGBT organizations have joined with and then taken over nonprofits, businesses, unions, media, and churches all across America?
Now, with Ronna’s help, they are aiming at the Republican Party. I was a Democrat State Representative when the Democrats partnered with LGBT groups who then took over the party. Eventually, I and most faithful Christians were ostracized and then effectively kicked out. History will repeat itself if Ronna goes ahead.
The LGBT policy agenda cannot be joined with Christian truths and this attempt to join efforts, even to attempt higher voter turnout, is too high a price to pay. Is it worth winning an election if we lose our souls by accepting the LGBT agenda in the process?

We as Christians are called to push back when our allies stray from fundamental values and take actions that fall far from the wisdom of God. It may not be politically popular to oppose this new “Pride Coalition,” but allowing such pagan ideas to infiltrate platforms will eventually result in no political home for Christians.
Ronna has been quiet on our issues, like supporting reversal of the disastrous gay marriage decision. She must clearly state her position on traditional marriage, gender issues, and reverse her partnership with the Log Cabin Republicans. Unless she publicly renews her support for a Christian policy agenda on family, marriage, and life, she cannot be trusted to lead the national Republicans.
And Republicans across the country must clearly choose either the Christian mission or the LGBT agenda. They can’t partner with both groups’ agendas. We agree with the Texas Republican Party which has condemned this action by Ronna. Christians in Washington’s Republican Party and across the country must voice their opposition to this alliance and need to remind Republican leaders and elected leaders that faithful Christian principles are the foundation of this country and the Republican Party.
If Republicans hope to ever win a majority and the battles for the heart and soul of our nation, Jesus Christ is the answer, not the LGBT movement’s destructive marriage, sex, and gender agenda.
