TAKE ACTION: SB 5242 will make YOU pay for abortions in WA

SB 5242 is scheduled for a public hearing at 1:30 on Thursday, March 30th in the House Appropriations Committee, and Washington legislators need to hear from you on this issue.

SB 5242 (and its companion bill HB 1115) would eliminate co-pays or out-of-pocket expenses for abortion.

The cost of these procedures would be entirely funded by taxpayers and/or private insurance companies which would, in turn, pass this expense on to subscribers in the form of higher insurance rates and deductibles. 

SB 5242 is sponsored by the following Senators in WA: Cleveland, Robinson, DhingraFrame,

ValdezWellman, and Wilson, C.

There are four ways you can take action on SB 5242:

  • Register your CON (against) position by clicking HERE. Must be completed by 12:30PM on Thursday, 3/30/23.
  • Apply to testify remotely on SB 5242 by clicking HERE. Must apply by 12:30PM on Thursday, 3/30/23.
  • Apply to testify in person in Olympia by clicking HERE. Must apply by 12:30PM on Thursday, 3/30/23.
  • Submit written testimony on SB 5242 by clicking HERE. Must be submitted by 1:30PM on Friday, 3/31/23.
