Prayer Strategy

Public Square Intercessory Prayer Strategy is a guided prayer and engagement tool that equips believers to pray strategically for every major area of civic life and then take practical next steps in their communities.

What this resource is

  • A workbook-style booklet that walks individuals and groups through discovering needs in their local “public square,” discerning where God is leading them to intercede, and then forming a concrete prayer strategy.
  • A companion to an in-person or slide-based teaching that follows an adult learning flow: discovery, discussion, and then focused instruction.

Who it is for

  • Church leaders, intercessors, and prayer ministries who want a structured way to pray over culture, government, and community life.
  • Small groups, families, and Christian citizens who desire to connect biblical worldview formation with real issues in their city or state.

Core focus areas

  • The booklet identifies twelve key arenas of the public square: business, government, religious organizations, education, arts/entertainment/athletics, medical, justice system, professionals/finance/tech, laborers/trades, retired and widows, economic classes, and the marginalized.
  • Each arena is framed around the contrast between darkness and God’s light and hope, helping users see where intercession is most urgently needed.

How it works

  • Participants “measure” the spiritual condition of each area, “discern” specific needs, and then choose priority areas for focused intercession.
  • For each chosen area, the framework leads users to pray through vision, mission, strategy, practical goals, and supportive public policy and leadership needs.

Outcomes and benefits

  • Helps Christians move from vague, generalized prayers to targeted kingdom-focused intercession for their city and state.
  • Connects prayer to action by prompting users to consider public policies, elected officials, and concrete steps of engagement that align with a biblical worldview.
