“Choosing Care Net of Puget Sound means you’re choosing professional, compassionate care in a safe, supportive environment. You don’t have to navigate this experience alone. We’re here to walk alongside you, providing the information and encouragement you need.”
— Care Net of Puget Sound

“Pregnant? You have options.”

That’s a motto for our friends at Care Net of Puget Sound. They embody the vital, practical, “compassion in action” mission to save pre-born babies — as well as to love the mother and father with open, welcoming arms. Every day, Care Net is face-to-face with women in need, and their services are free, confidential, and professional: “All our locations are healthcare facilities as defined by WA State RCW 70.02.010. We have over 30 licensed medical professionals who provide care to clients and serve under the guidance of two OB/GYNs.”

They even welcome walk-ins at any of their eight clinics in King and Pierce County, where young and middle-aged women will receive the care they need during a difficult time: “Facing an unexpected pregnancy can bring a whirlwind of emotions. It’s completely normal to feel uncertain. Knowing what to expect when seeking help can bring a sense of comfort and clarity. When visiting Care Net of Puget Sound, you can take your next steps with confidence and clarity.” That confidence and clarity empowers women to make the life-affirming choice for birth and adoption. FPIW is honored to support Care Net’s mission of compassion to those moms, dads, and babies who need it the most.

Walking In

“We are a network of pregnancy and family resource centers providing compassionate, practical care since 1982,” Care Net shares. Above all, they offer a warm, caring, compassionate welcome. The free appointment will include a pregnancy test, an ultrasound, and checking for viability, which means “making sure the baby is developing as expected and where he or she is located in the uterus”. They write:

This is a judgment-free conversation where you can talk openly about your feelings and explore your options. Whether you’re considering abortion, adoption, or parenting, we will provide unbiased information and resources to help you feel confident in your decision. We understand that every situation is unique, and we’re here to ensure you feel empowered and informed. We do not provide or refer for termination services [i.e., abortions] so you will not be pressured into purchasing a service or medication.

Adoption, Abortion Reversal, and Parenting

Having come for support, if the woman wishes to consider the adoption option, Care Net will be there to guide them. “We’re here to help you find the support you need,” they say. “We’ll walk you through your options and, if you choose adoption, we can connect you with a network of referrals to help you take the next steps.” Here are some more details about adoption.

Another highlight is the abortion reversal service that they offer. They state:

“It’s okay to change your mind.

The first abortion pill — Mifepristone — deprives the body of progesterone, the natural hormone a woman’s body needs to support a pregnancy. By starting the progesterone regimen within the first 72 hours after taking Mifepristone, it is possible to overpower the Mifepristone and save the pregnancy. In fact, studies have shown a 64-68% success rate of continuing the pregnancy.

An ultrasound is performed as soon as possible to confirm the heart rate, position, and the date of pregnancy. After confirmation, a medical professional prescribes progesterone to be taken orally, vaginally, or even by intramuscular injection. The treatment usually continues throughout the first trimester. A series of ultrasounds are performed during the treatment phase to confirm the pregnancy is progressing as it should.”

In addition to adoption and the abortion reversal, others may wish to parent the child. Care Net offers loving support for that option, too. Check out all these courses below for birthing classes, support for dads, clothes, emergency assistance, and more. It is an impressive display of compassion.

The Ethic of Care

The ethic of care centers on interpersonal relationships — the mother with the baby; the mother and father; the father and the baby; and of course, all three of them together, as well as any other family members. Special and unique care is needed for each relationship of bonding, and Care Net is equipped to love each of them to meet the needs. With such professional compassion, look at some of the praise Care Net has received:

Amelia Graham, the Communications Direction for Care Net, sums up key points: “In Washington state, the narrative that ‘Abortion is a choice of empowerment’, when in reality what we see in the women that come to us is it’s often a choice made out of desperation.”

She shares how Care Net offers a direct alternative to Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest business for abortions. Graham explains: “The need for women to have support and resources and life-affirming care, and a non-judgmental, compassionate place to turn to isn’t going to change. And that’s what we’re here to do, and what we’ve been doing for over 40 years. And it’s why I love this ministry.”

At Care Net, women and men can come to be loved and taken care of — and because of that great love, many of those moms and dads will welcome their newborn into this world. That’s a moment they will never forget, and having been alongside them for each step of the journey, Care Net smiles upon such a beautiful choice.
