“Don’t get between these Moms for Liberty and their kids,” says Fox News. How true, and there’s a local chapter here in Washington State that stands to defend children with the protective love that only a mother can give. Since its inception on January 21, 2023, Moms for Liberty in King County has worked to empower parents, strengthen families, and protect children, as they represent 19 school districts and some 275,000 students. They reside in a region of our state that very much needs such love and truth, and it is our delight to support these Joyful Warriors in their noble cause.
Righteous Fire
Moms for Liberty (KC) is a grassroots organization in Washington State that seeks to give parents a stronger voice in the education of their children and in decisions made by government and public institutions. The King County chapter is part of the national Moms for Liberty organization, which was founded in 2021. It is America’s largest grassroots network fighting for parental rights. Although its name emphasizes mothers, the organization welcomes moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, and others who support its parental-rights mission.
At the local level, the King County chapter encourages families to become informed about what is happening in their schools and communities and provides opportunities for citizens to participate in the public process. At its core, the organization is built around the principle that parents should play the central role in decisions affecting the upbringing, education, and well-being of their children. The primacy of parents — not government — is foundational for a good society. As their signs proclaim: “We do not co-parent with the government.”
Schools & Parental Rights
One of the core purposes of Moms for Liberty (KC) is to encourage greater parental involvement and transparency in education. Specifically, the chapter urges residents to attend or observe school board meetings throughout King County, including meetings in districts such as Bellevue, Federal Way, Issaquah, Kent, Lake Washington, Renton, Seattle, Shoreline, Snoqualmie Valley, and others. Members are encouraged to learn about school policies, provide public comments, and bring important educational issues to the attention of other parents.
The chapter also provides resources addressing curriculum, parental opt-out rights, school policies, educational technology, artificial intelligence, history and civics, and other subjects affecting students. For instance, the picture on the right shows how Ann Streit, King County Chapter Chair, offers insights to parents on how to evaluate curriculum. Ann has some 30 years of experience in public schools. By encouraging parents to become knowledgeable about these matters, Moms for Liberty (KC) seeks to transform parental concern into constructive civic participation and greater accountability in public education. Parents can and should opt out of objectionable curriculum, both sexual and ideological, and technologically, too. Moms for Liberty can help.
Educating Parents
The chapter also emphasizes advocacy for parental rights and educational accountability at the state and local levels. Moms for Liberty’s Washington legislative priorities have emphasized the organization’s belief that parents possess an important right and responsibility to direct the upbringing and education of their children. The organization advocates greater transparency concerning children’s education and school records and encourages parents to participate in school-board processes, particularly when instructional materials and policies are being considered. Rather than asking parents to remain spectators, the organization encourages them to understand government, communicate respectfully with decision-makers, and participate in the institutions that influence their children’s education.
As one specific example, Ann joined FPIW’s Apologia event in 2025 to help parents understand the importance of supporting an initiative to defend girls’ sports from having biological boys compete against them (see picture of Ann speaking). She spoke before some 300 people, and Moms for Liberty was a powerful force for the initiative.
Action-Orientated
A notable strength of the King County chapter is the variety of ways in which it encourages grassroots participation. According to its summary of 2025 accomplishments, members attended school board meetings and other education-related events, offered public comments, completed surveys, monitored public proceedings, communicated with community members, and participated in voter-engagement efforts. Here is a very small sample of some events and accomplishments:
• Create the Legislative Record on Parental Rights following the 2025 Legislative Session.
• Encourage parents to effectively advocate for their children at school board meetings, district committees, and in Olympia.
• Increase transparency and accountability through the use of Public Records Requests.
• Promote legislation that supports children, families, parental rights, educational excellence, and transparency as members of the Washington State Legislative Team.
• Meet with legislators during the annual “Day in Olympia” to advocate for parental rights and sound education policy.
• Gather signatures for initiatives designed to protect children, families, and girls’ sports.

The chapter also reported speaking at legislative district meetings and faith organizations, participating in conferences, expanding its social-media presence, distributing newsletters, and providing educational resources to the public. Its activities have included educational programs and community gatherings as well as opportunities for people interested in public service and school-board involvement. The chapter’s own code of conduct calls upon members to demonstrate courtesy, respect, objectivity, accountability, and professionalism while striving to create a positive experience for fellow members and people in the community. Together, these activities illustrate an organization seeking to develop informed citizens who are prepared to participate actively and responsibly in civic affairs.
Mom, Let Your Voice Be Heard
Moms for Liberty (KC) is truly “love in action” and an expression of the unique love a mother has for her children. Ultimately, it is a locally organized effort to strengthen the influence of parents in education and government. Its work rests on the conviction that parents are not merely observers of their children’s education but essential participants whose knowledge, judgment, and involvement deserve to be respected. By encouraging ordinary citizens to become informed, speak respectfully but confidently, support their children, and participate in public life, Moms for Liberty (KC) seeks to ensure that parents remain an influential voice in shaping the future of education in Washington State. Through such practical actions of care, and as role models for their own children to see, they are living examples of why “Mom’s Love Is Irreplaceable”.
