If you are a parent with a child in Pierce County, one of the best allies you could have is Moms for Liberty. They are ready to help and support you, especially if you want to opt-out of objectionable school curriculum, or if you want to find a community of fellow conservatives who share your values. You are not alone: The Pierce County chapter began in 2022, and they currently have 191 active members and more than 400 individuals receiving their newsletter. With a warm welcome, you also can apply for membership and join together with like-minded moms who want the very best for their sons and daughters. At FPIW, we count it a privilege to partner with the terrific team of Pierce County who help to protect children in public schools.
National Moms for Liberty
At large, Moms for Liberty is a national organization founded in 2021 in Florida in the wake of the Covid-era abuses against our children. During the same time that school closures, forced Covid testing, vaccinations, and masking took place, children often stayed at home, and this allowed parents to see behind the education curtain. Many were alarmed by the content that was being taught.
This activated parents across the nation and Moms for Liberty was born. Today it is the largest parental rights organization in the nation. Each local chapter is a 501(c)4 non-profit, non-partisan, independent entity that functions fairly independently of one another, much like a state is to a federal government.
“Why I love being a member of Moms for Liberty”
Sarah Garriott is the Chair of the Pierce County chapter. She shares:
I am so grateful for the support and camaraderie we receive from our National Leadership as well as from the friendships we have made here in Washington and across the nation. These are the ladies and gentlemen who are willing to stand up and speak the truth to defend our children. They are faith-filled, courageous, determined, fun-loving, and a joy to work with. Yes, men can be members of M4L, too! We have several men in our chapter. There are even men who are chapter chairs! We value the participation of Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Dads, and anyone who cares about the future of this nation, parental rights, and education.
Action & Impact
Such teamwork and friendship for a common cause produces results. Here is a small sample of the action and impact Moms for Liberty (PC) has accomplished within only three years:
• Distributed more than 10,100 pocket Constitutions to families, students, and community groups.
• Reached over 10,000 households through door-to-door outreach.
• Collected over 4,000 signatures for statewide initiatives.
• Attended more than 140 school board meetings to support parents and promote strong academic standards.
• Critically influential in putting a stop to harmful curriculum adoption.
• Testified in multiple state legislative committees on bills related to parental rights, student privacy, and curriculum quality.
• Held 33 monthly member meetings to strengthen engagement and training.
• Hosted tables at Pierce County events including fairs, parades, and community festivals.
• Collaborated with local, like-minded organizations to host national speakers including Riley Gaines, Catalina Stubbe, and Marie Rogerson, attended by over 700 people.
• Presented to numerous organizations regarding the Moms for Liberty mission and the issues facing our parents, children, and Washington’s K-12 public schools.
• Guest appearance on the Moms for Liberty National podcast, “The Fire of Liberty,” and Brandi Kruse’s podcast, “Undivided.”
Other local events were also a hit. Sarah shares:
In the spring, our chapter held four, fun-filled, “Liberty at the Library” days in which we put on an American 250 story hour for any children who wandered in at several public libraries across Pierce County. We had a blast!
It is so critical that we fan the flames of liberty in the hearts and minds of our future generations. We taught them about why the 250th Anniversary is a big deal. What the War for Independence was all about. Who was George Washington and what a great first President and General he was. We made tri-corn hats with the kids and their parents and sang some patriotic, flag-waving songs. I dressed up as Martha Washington to read to the children.
They also set up a booth at the fair: “We recently had a booth at the Pierce County Fair and absolutely love the critical conversations we have with so many parents about the state of education and their children. We love empowering parents with the tools they need to be in the driver’s seat of their children’s education.”
Moms for Liberty (PC) also partners with the 917 Society (September 17th is Constitution Day) to hand out pocket Constitutions to all the 8th grade students across Pierce County for the schools that will take them. Sarah says: “Believe it or not, there are districts that will not.”
Legislative Impact & Finding Candidates
The team is very busy during Legislative Sessions at the Capitol in Olympia. The Moms for Liberty Washington Legislative Committee leads this effort, and representatives from each chapter analyze legislation touching on education and parental rights. They discuss and research the legislation and vote equally across participating chapters to support or not support any given bill. The decision must be unanimous among participating chapter representatives for them to move forward on any state-wide decision.

From that page you can find the legislative priorities, some of the bills they tracked, an AI model policy, a list of elected officials who have officially signed our “Parent Pledge,” and some pictures from “M4L Day on the Hill.” Of course, in addition to such legislative impact, the members are regularly attending school board meetings, supporting initiatives, and weighing in on matters we find to be critical to our mission. Moms for Liberty is always searching for good candidates, especially those in non-partisan, school board elections, and they can offer their endorsement for such candidates. Their national, free Candidate Campaign Kit made specifically for school board races could be helpful for anyone considering a run for school board. That School Board Campaign Kit can be accessed for free with membership either through the national organization or through membership in their local county chapter.
Leadership Training, Summits, and a Local Super PAC
The training and infrastructure the national organization is also something to note. It has built has been nothing short of remarkable in five short years. They have flown members down to Florida, Texas, and San Diego for invaluable leadership training.
Members of the chapter also have attended four of the five national Summits held each year. For 2026, the Summit is in Dallas, Texas, with at least 11 members of Moms for Liberty Washington in attendance. Brandi Kruse, a Seattle-area reporter and host of the Undivided podcast, has accepted a speaking invitation at the Summit.
In terms of future projects, Sarah says: “Right now, our biggest ask would be $190,000 to help Moms for Liberty Super PAC. This would help us get out the vote. Moms for Liberty National has had donors help them to GOTV in the swing states with an over 90% success rate in turning out the vote for low propensity voting women who align with our values. This flipped the 2024 election in President Trump’s favor in those states.” They want to do that right here in Washington State.
“How Shall We Raise Our Children?”
In every society, the perennial question is asked: “How shall we raise our children?” Moms for Liberty (PC) is answering it with conservative, biblical values that train children in what is Good, True, and Beautiful. They are protecting children against the Left’s agenda. More fundamentally, the team at Moms for Liberty (PC) is living out their values and protecting their children, in part, because they know their own children are watching and learning for their honorable example. Those children know that their own moms are advocating for them, and one day, may they do the same for their own children.

Membership Note: There are two levels of membership for chapters. The first is an Associate membership, which is free. The second is voting membership and each chapter sets their own annual membership fee. For Pierce County, it is $100 per year for the first year, and $50 for every subsequent year.
