“Washington Prays exists to serve the Church, encouraging Her to be a ‘house of prayer for all nations’ (Isaiah 56:7), by encouraging local churches to adopt a day of prayer in their communities so that every day has a least one church praying.”
– Washington Prays
There is a wonderful quotation from the book Prayer for Beginners that reads: “One moment of prayer, of weak worship, confused contrition, tepid thanksgiving, or pitiful petition will bring us closer to God than all the books of theology in the world.”
It is in that spirit that the organization Washington Prays puts first things first, and invites us to draw closer to God, the One who can transform our hearts and in doing so transform a culture at large. In our modern world, it is too easy to forget prayer. FPIW is proud to join in partnership with Washington Prays and uphold the primacy of prayer for our state. One motto they promote is: “Return to Prayer.”
Pray Without Ceasing
Headquartered in beautiful Mill Creek, Washington, the Christian prayer movement Washington Prays is dedicated to strengthening churches, uniting believers, and encouraging spiritual revival throughout Washington State. Rooted in the biblical conviction that prayer is essential to the Christian life, the organization seeks to bring congregations together in a shared commitment to seek God’s guidance and blessings for their communities. Its mission emphasizes the importance of continuous prayer, spiritual renewal, and cooperation among churches of different denominations. Washington Prays believes that when Christians unite in prayer, they can strengthen families, encourage faith, and inspire positive change throughout society. Through its commitment to biblical principles and Christian unity, Washington Prays offers an inspiring vision of communities transformed by faith, hope, and the power of collective prayer. Their vision is this:
To unite and equip 40,000 churches in prayer for a national spiritual awakening.
One of the most distinctive features of Washington Prays is its commitment to establishing continuous, around-the-clock prayer throughout the state. The organization’s approach encourages participating churches to dedicate one day each month to prayer, creating an ongoing network of congregations praying for their neighborhoods, cities, state, and nation. This practical strategy allows churches of different sizes to participate while maintaining their individual traditions and identities.
Congregations can organize prayer throughout their designated day, giving members opportunities to pray individually or collectively. By coordinating these commitments, Washington Prays seeks to establish a sustained culture of intercession that extends beyond traditional Sunday worship services. This innovative approach demonstrates how ordinary Christians can participate in an extraordinary spiritual mission through consistent dedication and cooperation.
United in Prayer
Another important highlight of Washington Prays is its emphasis on Christian unity and cooperation among local churches. Rather than allowing denominational differences to divide believers, the organization encourages congregations to work together around their shared faith in Jesus Christ. Its strategy is deliberately simple, pastor-led, centered on local churches, and designed to remain sustainable over time. This approach recognizes the important role pastors and church leaders play in encouraging spiritual growth and strengthening relationships within their communities.

By bringing Christians together around a common purpose, Washington Prays seeks to build lasting partnerships that strengthen congregations and promote mutual encouragement. Its emphasis on unity reflects the biblical teaching that believers are called to work together as members of the body of Christ, demonstrating their faith through prayer, fellowship, and service. Partnering with FPIW
Washington Prays also recognizes the importance of praying for families, government leaders, churches, and individuals facing difficult circumstances. Through its partnership with us at Family Policy Institute of Washington (FPIW), the movement helps encourage Christians to pray for their communities and those entrusted with positions of leadership and responsibility. The organizations have promoted an initiative called A Day to Pray, which invites churches to devote time each month to interceding for their neighborhoods, cities, state, and nation. This initiative seeks to strengthen relationships among pastors and congregations while encouraging spiritual awakening and renewed concern for others. Washington Prays emphasizes that prayer is not merely a private religious exercise but also an opportunity for Christians to express compassion, demonstrate solidarity, and seek God’s wisdom for the challenges facing society. By encouraging believers to pray faithfully for others, the organization promotes a spirit of hope, responsibility, and Christian service.
Where Heart-Change Takes Place

Washington Prays represents an encouraging effort to restore prayer to a central place in the spiritual life of Washington State. Its vision of uniting churches in continuous prayer reflects a deep commitment to Jesus Christ, biblical faithfulness, and the spiritual well-being of communities. By emphasizing cooperation among congregations, empowering local pastors, and encouraging Christians to pray consistently for their neighbors and leaders, the organization provides a meaningful opportunity for believers to put their faith into action. Its straightforward and sustainable approach makes participation accessible to churches throughout Washington, regardless of their size or denomination.
At a time when many communities face division, uncertainty, and significant social challenges, Washington Prays offers a message of unity, perseverance, and dependence upon God. Through its dedication to prayer and spiritual renewal, Washington Prays stands as a positive example of how Christians can work together to strengthen their churches, encourage their communities, and seek a brighter future for Washington State.
