“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.”
– Rev. Charles F. Aked (1916)
Hello, Defenders!
There’s a lot happening with FPIW, and I want to share with you some updates, as well as ask you to partner with us so that we can continue to stand on the frontline for biblical values. We need you!
First, I am so encouraged by our daily presence at the Capitol for corporate prayer for our state. Every day we gather, and some 350 people have joined us so far, including Senators and Representatives.
In fact, our own Ken Ramey, Director of Church & Grassroots Relationships, led the House of Representatives in an Opening Prayer.
As you know, we exist to defend and advance biblical values in the public square, and we are the largest voice for politically active Christians in the state.
Recently, we tracked 422 bills in the Legislature that impact families – the most in FPIW history; wrote an analysis explaining each one; and then sent a daily “ping” to phones so that people could immediately register PRO or CON on bills. (See picture.) We speak out!
You can view these bills on our first-in-the-state Washington Defender App, or on our newly redesigned FPIW Action website.
Our FPIW Action lobbyist in Olympia gives us first-hand, eye-witness reports. Brad Payne (left) is a two-way conduit: First, he tracks all the bills in order to inform Defenders to take action. Second, he also is the voice of Defenders directly to the legislators themselves. He regularly meets face to face with legislators to strategize and to pray with them.
I have enjoyed interviewing legislators, being interviewed on various programs, as well as co-sponsoring a Parental Rights Rally with hundreds of pro-family people on the steps of the Capitol.
We are working hard! But we need your help.
We depend upon our Defenders to help us defend families, and so we ask for your continued generous, financial support and faithful prayers. (Click here to donate.)
We seek to defend our home against an onslaught of very clear and present dangers. For instance, here are three current attacks against the family:
(1) Hitting Your Home: Legislators want to triple the property tax.
This tax hit would be an immediate financial hardship. You bought your home, but now you cannot afford to live there. Think also of the elderly on a fixed income.
FPIW Action is lobbying hard and pulling no punches.
We are educating all our Defenders and registering CON on all of these bills. Excessive taxation needs to stop! For more on this and other tax grabs, read our alert “Tax Mania: The Economic Attack Against Families.”
(2) Soft-on-Crime: And if attacking our homes is not enough, what about our unsafe cities and neighborhoods?
In our Bill Library from FPIW Action, we chronicle bill after bill that dismisses proper punishment, fails to uphold justice, and essentially lets criminals off the hook. These legislators stand with the criminals more than the victims. No wonder our safety is in jeopardy.
(3) Devaluing Life: Above all, the most sinister attack was revealed in a proposed WA Constitutional Amendment (SJR 8204) supporting abortion and “gender-affirming care” (think: permanent, life-altering surgeries) — all without any age limit, and all without any parental notification.
We stand for a culture of life. We stand for children and parents and communities of faith.
Our voice must continue. We are fighting in the trenches and on the frontline. We cannot fight this fight without you. Our need is very urgent, and so we ask for your help today.
If we do nothing, evil wins. But you can do something: You can give.
You are investing in our beloved home of Washington. You are paving the future for your children and grandchildren. Together, we can defend families.
Please begin or renew your partnership with us by clicking here. With our Defender Team all joining in, your small gift of $10 each month makes a significant impact to defend our home. Thank you!
Blessings,
