Life Chain Event and Motherhood

In my last blog, I talked about the importance of motherhood. Today, I talk about one mother in particular. March 25th is the day of the Annunciation, when many Christians commemorate the moment the angel Gabriel announced to Mary that she was carrying the Son of God in her womb. In honor of this, Pastor Sandy Smith from Cedar Park Church in Bothell is leading an event on March 25 to help celebrate the best known mother in the world – Mary.

FPIW is proud to a part of this joyful public gathering on the pedestrian walking path of the 520 Bridge across Lake Washington.

Here is Pastor Sandy Smith’s message:

We are excited to share with you that on Friday, March 25th, we are leading a statewide “Life Chain” across the pedestrian walking path of the 520 bridge across Lake Washington.

This “Life Chain” is a pro life event where people unite, stand together forming a tangible human chain to symbolize a stand for the sanctity of life! It will be an exciting, peaceful and prayerful celebration of life.

On Friday March 25th, which is just 9 months from Christmas, we celebrate what is known as the “Annunciation” or announcement of Christ’s conception.

“And behold, you will conceive in your womb and give birth to a son, and you shall name Him Jesus.”  Luke 1:31

These are the words that Mary heard from the angel Gabriel telling her that she would be the mother of God’s son, Jesus. This day is considered one of the greatest moments in the life of Jesus and yet for Mary, his mother, it was difficult as she was young and poor. But Mary knew that Jesus was Jesus from the moment of conception and I am so glad that Mary chose LIFE for her unborn child.

Jesus came to earth as a vulnerable and helpless baby that had to be nurtured and cared for.  This is a powerful testimony to us even thousands of years later, that LIFE is precious, life is valuable and life is a gift from God!

This is the message of life that we as a community and as the people of Washington State want to announce on March 25th.

Will you join us?

Let us know you’re coming and find out more at LifePNW.org

FPIW will be at that pedestrian bridge on March 25, and we want as many people in attendance as possible to make our voices loud and clear.

This moment was difficult for Mary, as she was young, poor, and knew she would be judged for conceiving a child out of wedlock. Because of her deep faith in God, Mary gave a radical “yes” and chose motherhood and changed the course of history. We are called to emulate Mary and give God our “yes” to His will.

LifePNW is chartering buses to take over 400 high school students at CPCS as well as opening it up to the church community, branch churches, families and anyone else who wants to travel with us or meet the group there at 9:30am that morning which will start with worship and prayer and testimonies of hope!

LifePNW will have 1,000 large flags to be carried as we stand along the bridge. Half of the flags say “Life is Precious” and the other half say “LifePNW.” Everyone will wave the flags as we form a chain across the bridge and act as a voice for the voiceless.

Our hope and prayer is that this is a yearly event and that many others will see March 25th as a day to stand for Life!

God does not make mistakes. Each of our lives is a precious gift from God with meaning and purpose.

This is the message we will proclaim on March 25th. Please join us in showing Washington that motherhood and all life is sacred, designed by God, and worthy of protection.
