“I cannot see the end of this crowd … Who’s ready to MARCH today?!”
Welcome back, pro-life politics!
Just days after the Inauguration of President Donald J. Trump, tens of thousands of pro-lifers gathered for the 52nd annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. Attendees described the atmosphere as hopeful, joyful, and optimistic as they marched to usher in a new era of pro-life politics.
President Trump spoke at the rally via a pre-recorded video. He was the first sitting president to ever attend a March for Life event in 2020. Vice President J.D. Vance joined the march and later delivered an address to the crowd. It was an historic moment for the pro-life movement that celebrated the return of pro-life politics to our nation’s Capitol.
The 52nd March for Life also marks the first time that both the House Speaker and the Senate Majority Leader have spoken at the event. Speaker Mike Johnson shared his incredible testimony of his parents choosing life amid an unexpected teen pregnancy.
“I was born in January 1972,” Johnson shared. “It was almost exactly one year before Roe v. Wade became the law of the land. I was the product of an unplanned teen pregnancy, and I am so eternally grateful that my mom and dad ignored all the people who told them to just take care of that problem, and they chose to embrace life and to have me — the first of their four children.”
“It’s a simple fact, a very simple fact: if they had not done that, I would not be here,” Johnson continued. “And I often wonder who else we have missed and what those individuals might have contributed to our society and our world, but they were just never given the opportunity. I often wonder when we as a nation will face that reality and turn our hearts back to the self-evident truth that we boldly proclaimed in our nation’s birth certificate in 1776, as was said earlier, that all people are created equal and that all people are endowed by our creator with the right to life.”

And there is more good news to share, as President Trump took more pro-life actions:
• First, and just days before the March, President Trump pardoned 23 peaceful pro-life activists (see picture on right for a sample) who were unjustly imprisoned during the Biden administration, calling it a “great honor” to issue the pardons.
• Second, he signed an Executive Order reinstating the Mexico City Policy, which he renamed “Protecting Life in Global Health Assistance.” The policy, first established by President Ronald Reagan, requires “foreign nongovernmental organizations to certify that they do not use any funding sources to help them pay to perform, counsel or provide information on abortions abroad as a stipulation for receiving U.S. funding.”
• And third, Trump signed an Executive Order enforcing the Hyde Amendment, which bans the use of federal dollars for abortion. The Order rescinded two Biden administration actions that sought to expand abortion access in the wake of Dobbs. “With this action, the president is getting American taxpayers out of the abortion business and restoring sanity to the federal government,” President of SBA Pro-Life America Marjorie Dannenfelser noted. “This is a big win for babies and mothers, and it reflects the will of the majority of Americans who strongly oppose bankrolling the abortion industry at home and abroad.”

In recent years, we have celebrated many pro-life victories while acknowledging there is still a great deal of work to be done, and here are two facts to keep in mind:
• According to Operation Rescue’s annual report, as of 2024, 14 states remain abortion-free, three states rejected radical abortion amendments, and twenty-nine abortion clinics closed or halted abortions.
• In 1990, there were over 2,176 abortion clinics nationwide. In 2024, there were just 667. That’s a stunning 69% decrease. Pro-life experts note that abortion clinics are “struggling to survive in this post-Roe environment.” Praise God!
As we celebrate the return of the “most pro-family, most pro-life American president of our lifetime,” please continue to pray that national policies will have a trickle-down effect in Washington state, which is ranked as one of the “worst of the worst” states for abortion according to Operation Rescue’s analysis.
Thirty-three clinics remain in Washington State. Yet now the abortion battle has largely shifted to the at-home abortion pill front, rather than abortion facility access. Please pray that the federal government bans the practice of abortion-by-mail or medicated abortion altogether due to the inherent and vast safety risks for pregnant women. Thousands upon thousands of babies would be saved in Washington state alone.
And for babies, families, and a culture of life here at home, that would be even more great news indeed.
