Proponents of radical SeXXX Education hoped that we would go away after Planned Parenthood dumped many millions of dollars into protecting the new sex education legislation – from which they are likely to gain massive profits.
But we are not going away.
Another group of concerned parents and activists have been involved in the I-1109 campaign. Unlike the R-90 campaign, which existed to defeat a bad bill, the I-1109 campaign actually seeks to write a new sex education law which would supersede the first and remove some of the most concerning elements from enactment.
These parents created the “Common Sense Sex Ed Committee,” which wrote the replacement legislation being promoted through this campaign.
Initiative 1109, if it gathers the necessary signatures and passes, will require that:
- Any sex education program adopted must be “opt-in”
- Local School Boards and parents choose the sex education programming – not the State
- Sexual health will only be offered in grades 5 – 12
- Curriculum materials must be available online for citizen review
- Curriculum content must be able to be broadcast on public media
- Primary prevention/optimal health/sexual risk-taking avoidance behaviors be taught
FPIW believes that sex education is not a function that should be performed by taxpayers in public schools, but rather by a child’s parents, in a controlled environment that is respectful of the diverse views that Washingtonians hold on healthy human sexuality and sexual identity.
The State must give parents an opportunity to “train up a child in the way he should go” (Proverbs 22:6) and be blocked from injecting a “government-endorsed” opinion about controversial topics such as sexuality into the minds of impressionable young children.
This is something freedom loving conservatives AND liberals, Christians AND Pagans should support if they desire for us to live in peace. History, from ancient Rome to Hitler’s Germany and Stalin’s Soviet Union, teaches us that forced government indoctrination programs always end in revolution and government collapse.
By passing radical SeXXX Education legislation without providing parents with an option to opt their children out, Washington lawmakers clearly sought to circumvent parental oversight entirely. We cannot allow that to happen.
Public schools should be focused on teaching reading, writing, math, and science – not politically-driven narratives about gender identity and sexual awareness.

Additionally, I hope you’ll make plans to attend the peaceful “Reopen Washington” protest taking place today, Saturday, December 5th, at 11:00 a.m. on the steps of the Capitol Building in Olympia. Rep. Vicki Kraft, R-Vancouver, is organizing the rain-or-shine rally. Please make plans to lend your voice to the efforts to reopen Washington’s economy and remove burdensome restrictions that the Inslee Administration has placed on churches and businesses.
Lastly, will soon be providing our final analysis of the past election results and be presenting our legislative policy agenda for next session. The legislators are still figuring out who the leaders will be (leadership and committees) and how they will prioritize bills and engage the public in a virtual manner.
One tidbit we got from House Democrat leadership urges legislators “to focus on four priority areas: racial equity, COVID-19 response, economic recovery and global climate change.”
Horrifyingly, based on what we have seen in the past, we read this agenda to be: promoting the new racism and BLM, restricting citizens’, churches’, and businesses’ First Amendment freedoms, increasing all taxes for failed government programs, and a completing a government takeover of our energy and transportation systems.
In other words, lawmakers plan to govern the entire state just like Seattle.
Ironically, the Democrat leadership also directs members to make sure their legislation is “thoroughly vetted by outside interest groups.” While we, and our many allied policy interest groups across the state eagerly await their phone calls, their track record tells us this will probably never happen.
