Once upon a time, the United States of America was the freest land in the world. Our First Amendment, which acknowledges the God-given right to free speech, was treasured by nearly all, regardless of political affiliation.
Free speech, as was once thought, was critical in order to let the best idea win. Even if someone said something horribly offensive, they still had the right to say it. You could choose whether or not to pay attention to the statement, and if given attention, how much.
Now, Big Tech does not give you the choice.
And they are not screening out material that is actually illegal (worthy of a hate crime, speech that incites violence, or speech that depicts a crime). No – they are censoring cold, hard facts.
Over the weekend, Twitter suspended conservative commentator Allie Beth Stuckey for the following comment, referring to the biologically male weightlifter who was allowed to compete on New Zealand’s female Olympic team:
“[Laurel] Hubbard failing at the event doesn’t make his inclusion fair. He’s still a man, and men shouldn’t compete against women in weightlifting.”
Stuckey’s suspension came around the same time the Sucher & Sons Star Wars Shop owner got in a heated exchange with Aberdeen City Council Member Tiesa Meskis over a sign posted in the store. Meskis is a biological male who “identifies” as female. The sign, paraphrased, declares that if you have male body parts, you are not a female. Don Sucher, the shop owner, insisted to Meskis, “you are not a woman,” while Meskis shouted, “trans women are women!” Police were preparing for possible violence outside of the store when supporters of Meskis planned a demonstration for Saturday, but the event was canceled.
Twitter justified its suspension of Stuckey by claiming her tweet violated “rules against hateful conduct” which state “[you] may not promote violence against, threaten, or harass others on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or serious disease.”
After a suspension, Twitter users must delete whatever tweet the Thought Police flagged in order to begin tweeting again. Speech isn’t free at Twitter: it comes with the cost of compromising your honesty.
Stating that a biological man is, in fact, a biological man is not hateful. Is it the truth, but the truth is no longer allowed by Big Tech, and it certainly does not appear to be welcome by some in Aberdeen.
Indeed, it’s an open secret that the giants of Big Tech have abandoned the free exchange of ideas in favor of censorship that “favors dignity over liberty and civility over freedom,” evidenced by the leaking of “The Good Censor” brief produced by Google.
Radical pagans love their euphemisms.
“Dignity,” according to the radical left, is the denial of science and our God-given identity. “Dignity” is the suppression of facts. “Civility” means you are not allowed to speak the truth in case someone might be offended.
“Better are the wounds of a friend, than the deceitful kisses of an enemy.” (Proverbs 27:6)
It is neither kind nor loving to encourage a lie. Standing by the truth that biological sex cannot be changed is not done out of hatred or a desire for violence – it is done out of love and genuine care. When Big Tech censors the truth, lies filter their way down into our local communities, like Aberdeen.
Individuals that are delusional and confused about their sex need real help and truthful counseling – not deceitful affirmation. It truly is abusive and harmful, even evil, to do otherwise.
When Big Tech censors the truth or even ideas that challenge the status quo, it gives that deceitful kiss, calling what is evil, good, and good, evil (Isaiah 5:20).
